Mini scarecrow festival raises foodbank funds

13th September 2016

Scarecrows and their Cowper Avenue family extended a massive thank you to all who came to visit them, and for their generosity, on Saturday 20th August.

A resident said: “The contributions of food and money for the Ribble Valley Foodbank were amazing. Little Red Riding Hood collected many basketfuls of food and when volunteers opened the donations envelopes and collection buckets, they were delighted to find a total of £430 in monetary contributions as well.

It took real time and effort for the residents and households in the avenue, but the feedback was that they were very pleased to do something small for such a big and worthwhile project as the Foodbank. There are definitely plans to bring the scarecrows back next year for more fun and fundraising.”
